Drumsticks, also known as Moringa pods, are long, slender green pods with a tough outer skin and soft, flavorful pulp inside. Commonly used in South Indian dishes, they lend a unique flavor and texture to sambar, curries, and soups.
Storage & Use:
Store drumsticks in the refrigerator wrapped in a cloth or paper to keep them fresh for longer. Cut them into finger-length pieces and add to curries, stews, or boil them and scrape out the soft inner flesh. They’re best enjoyed when young and tender.
Benefits:
Drumsticks are rich in vitamin C, iron, and calcium, which help boost immunity and strengthen bones. They also aid digestion and have anti-inflammatory properties.
Tip: For added flavor and nutrition, simmer drumstick pieces in your rasam or sambar and enjoy the tender pulp with rice.
